Textural Design for Interiors

At Knotted by Hand, I collaborate with interior designers, stylists, and architects to create bespoke fibre installations that bring warmth, depth, and story into spaces. My practice goes beyond decoration — it’s a textural design approach that considers how art can shape atmosphere, solve practical design challenges, and connect deeply with the people who inhabit a space.

    Acoustic solutions

natural fibres absorb sound, softening echo in open-plan layouts or commercial environments.

  • Spatial cohesion

large-scale pieces unify voids, high ceilings, and transitional zones that often feel empty or unresolved.

  • Focal points

sculptural works create grounding visual anchors without overwhelming the balance of a room.

  • Emotional impact

tactile and organic, fibre brings warmth and softness to interiors that may otherwise feel cold, stark, or impersonal.

MATERIALS & PROCESS

I work with natural fibres like cotton, wool, linen, and jute — materials chosen for their strength, warmth, and organic character. These fibres breathe, shift, and age gracefully, bringing a tactile quality that can’t be replicated by mass production. Every piece is hand-knotted, loop by loop, with thousands of movements forming layered surfaces that catch light and shadow. My process is deliberate and deeply physical, creating artworks that hold presence, story, and texture — art that feels alive in its environment.

Kasia was an absolute dream to work with. I wanted flow, texture, and an earthy color palette that would seamlessly integrate into my home. Kasia sketched out her vision and was completely receptive to my feedback. Seeing it in real life, I was overwhelmed with emotion. It was hard not to cry. The piece was more than I could have ever dreamed of. Knowing the hours of work, love, and care that Kasia had poured into it made it even more special. - Rhiannon | Oleander & Finch
